It’s been some time now since one-armed bandit Dave won on the finale of this season’s Hell’s Kitchen, and while he had a won a chance to work at the Araxi Restaurant in Whistler, B.C., just in time for the 2010 Winter Olympics, that’s not until February next year, so for the mean time, he’s back in Il Giardino ‘86, the Italian restaurant in Cedar Knolls.

And even though Dave will be heading up north soon for his new job, the owner of Il Giardino ‘86, where he worked after he was done filming Hell’s Kitchen, said he’s happy for Dave.

“God bless him,” said Joe Lubrano. “He impressed us with his skills, his imagination, his ability to work with other people. Dave is a very open-minded person. He’s a joy to work with.”

Dave won the sixth season of Hell’s Kitchen two weeks ago via a come-from-behind win over consistent frontrunner Kevin. He also has the distinction of probably the only winner of Hell’s Kitchen with a very pronounced injury, since he essentially worked halfway through the season with an injured wrist. He grew up in Chester, New Jersey and eventually moved to San Diego, California.

The interesting and exciting season of Hell’s Kitchen finally came to an end with the win of Dave Levey on October 13,2009. In this seventh season we got to see contestants of both the teams, The Blue Team and The Red Team struggling hard for the title of ‘Head chef’ at Araxi Resturant, in Whistler, British Columbia. Dave Levey the winner was infamous for never appreciating any one’s work. An example of this was his comment on Tennille that, “she cooks food well for a child but she’s not good enough for the Araxi”, after she won a difficult task. But as the quote says, ‘may the best one win’ and that’s what the spirit of game was. Finally Dave Levey proved his mettle in spite of having one arm hurt.

The other sizzling news is also about the winner of Hell’s Kitchen, but surprisingly it’s about the winner of the previous season. Yes you guessed it right. It’s about Jennifer Ellison. This charming 26 year old, who’s six month pregnant has finally married her partner Rob Ticker in a secret marriage ceremony at Paris, the city of love. So sad, we didn’t get to have a glimpse of their intimate moment. Even her family and friends didn’t get a chance to attend it. We wish the couple a happy married life.

Hey guys I know you will also miss the host of this show, like me. Ramsay Gordon’s wits and hosting skills have taken the show to a new level. This is the reason that people will still get to see more seasons of the show, two of them being already considered. As announced during episode 13 of season six, the seventh season that will air in 2010 has already begun casting. Let’s hope the new season begins more excitement and necessarily more cooking skills with it. What I’m going to do in this transition time between two seasons is sharpen my cooking skills by practicing all I have learnt from the show Hell’s Kitchen..

Tennille Middleton, an executive chef from Fairfax, Virginia, was eliminated from “Hell’s Kitchen” last night (October 6) after making a mess around the kitchen. The 28-year-old however, was the winner of the day’s challenge where her dish was voted by more than 40 children as the “yummiest”.

The remaining four faced a child version of Gordon Ramsay before being told by the real chef that they were gonna cook vegetarian food for 80 special people. After completing their dishes, 80 kids rushed into the dining room while Ramsay said “By the way, they don’t like vegetables!”. Each of them was given a portion of the chefs’ meals and asked to mark the “yummiest” and the “yuckiest”. Kevin’s dish was voted by only 40 percent of the kids while Tennille won the challenge by 55 percent.

Punishment for the three losers was to clean the dining room which had been messed up by the kids. Tennille meanwhile, met Ramsay at Nobu where the chef gave her a brand new set of handcrafted Henkel knives.

It was during the dinner service that Tennille screwed up some moves. She spoiled two sets of scallops the first time but managed to do it better the second time around. She also did not cook the fish correctly and had a pile of burnt fish and pans. She was taken outside by Ramsay who gave her the infamous pep talk.

Ramsay was actually considering to eliminate Dave who got his wrist injured again but Dave told him to hold him a little longer because he got something to prove. Ramsay gave up to his reason and decided to keep him. The head chef didn’t feel the need of nomination and quickly sent Tennille home. As a reward for the final three, Dave, Kevin and Ariel, Ramsay brought their families to the show.

On Hell’s Kitchen, it’s the playoffs, sort of, because there are only four chefs remaining - loud mouth Tennille, downward spiral Ariel, one-handed Dave, and self-proclaimed Mr. Consistency but overcooked the rice Kevin. They are given a mini-pep talk by Felix Light, the so-called mini-me of Gordon Ramsay. The challenge was to prepare 80 vegetarian entrees to serve 80 people. There is a twist, and let’s just say their guests aren’t exactly fond of veggies.

Come dinner service, something tragic happens to Dave’s hand, and a surprise twist that will hopefully shock everyone.

On the last episode of Hell’s Kitchen, Suzanne finally got eliminated, to the delight of, well, everyone. Early on the episode, there was animosity between Dave and Tennille, because they agreed to nominate Suzanne and Ariel, but in front of Chef Ramsay, Tennille changed his mind and put Van on the chopping block instead.

With the five chefs remaining, though, it was time for the first individual challenge, and it’s presentation that’s the name of the game. Then something weird happened. Dave, who for the longest time had been talking in front of the camera and therefore millions of people, admitted that he had trouble talking to a crowd - only there was no crowd, only some magazine people. Suzanne’s “piece of art” didn’t win, neither did Tennille’s broken fish. In the end, it was a close fight between Dave and Ariel, and … both of them won.

Come service time, Ramsay was obviously pumped, with the supposed five best chefs onboard. At one point, Tennille called Dave an idiot. And then there were: overcooked risotto, weird scallops, more overcooked risotto because of Kevin (who had been all uppity the whole episode), pink, bloody chicken (literally), and the worst dinner service in a very long time.

Because there was the two-hour season finale of More to Love last week, tonight we get two hours of Hell’s Kitchen - and two chefs going home. There were only 7 chefs left, so it really gets intense and tight at this point. And wouldn’t you know it, Suzanne - the chef everybody and Tennille love to hate - is still there.

Yes, original Hell’s Kitchen arch-rivals Suzanne and Tennille are still there. Instead, it’s Van and Sabrina who were sent home on tonight’s episode of the Fox cooking show. Here’s how it happened.

From the last episode, we know that Suzanne was transferred to the blue team, to the chagrin of everyone - the blue’s because they’d be dealing with her and the red’s because they wanted her out of Hell’s Kitchen and not just out of their team. For the first of the two dinner service, host Chef Ramsay had both teams create a new menu to put in their personal flairs. The red teams encountered problems, mostly with Tennille’s inputs. Come dinner service time, Van had issues with the fish station while the typically consistent Ariel sent out frozen ravioli. Dave had another injury when he tried to lift a heavy pan, and there were a lot of undercooked halibut.

On the next dinner service, where the remaining chefs united to just one team, Van undercooked his halibut yet again and Ariel burnt her garnish lettuce. And for the first in Hell’s Kitchen history, Ramsay walked out of the kitchen and the building, with Sous Chef Scott, and with Tennille and Kevin taking charge of the proceedings. When Ramsay returned, he sent Van, Ariel and Suzanne out, leaving Kevin, Dave and Tennille to finish things for themselves.

In the end, Sabrina was sent home after the first episode, then Van in the next, leaving Ariel, Dave, Kevin, Suzanne, and Tennille still in contention on Hell’s Kitchen.

On tonight’s episode of Hell’s Kitchen, Suzanne is still there, hanging on to dear life, and I’m kind of loving it, if only because it annoys the hell out of it Tennille. “Suzanne the mouth” is now on the blue team, and from the looks of it, everyone is hell-bent on giving her a hard time. But regardless of whether she’s going or not, tonight looks to be a pretty intense episode, with something harsh happening to Dave - so if he goes, Suzanne gets to stay one more week?

On “7 Chefs Compete” Gordon Ramsay shows the chefs a glimpse of The Araxi via a satellite tour. They then need to use 15 local ingredients that were flon in from Whistler to create three unique entrees. Olympic gold medalists Sasha Cohen and Jonny Moseley are guest-judging, and the winning team gets to eat with Mark Peel, while the losers are forced to do hard labor on a local farm.

Later in the episode, the remaining contestants join together to form one team. They then pair up for the “Taste It, Make It” challenge, in which they are asked to recreate a dish served in Gordon’s restaurants. The winners of the challenge take a special behind-the-scenes tour of the restaurant at The London West Hollywood and eat lunch with Hell’s Kitchen season 4 winner Christina Machamer. Come service time, Gordon Ramsay walks out of the kitchen for the first time.

On the last episode of Hell’s Kitchen, we realized that some things simply never change. Sure, Suzanne was kind of trying her best to be a team person, but there’s simply no hiding an annoying spirit. On the episode’s crepe challenge, for instance, she was all trying to be helpful in the preparation, but come tasting time, Gordon Ramsay asked her what she prepared. In response, she retold the story of the crepe, complete with its merits and idiosyncrasies. Apparently, it wasn’t just the girls who are visibly pissed with Suzanne. The guys were as well, and there’d probably be a party once she goes.

Sabrina taking pleasure in fake-punching Suzanne was pretty funny.

But then, Suzanne’s arch enemy Tennille hadn’t exactly been a charm either. Comments have been made about her channeling Wanda Sykes whenever she talks, and I’m actually curious if she’s doing it in purpose. She kind of makes up for it because, along with Ariel, she’s turning out to be one of the more reliable among the girls - but seriously, the two should shut up. And then, after they were made to decide among themselves who to nominate, Suzanne was all, oh I don’t understand why I’m the bad guy! That cracked me up.

Whistler showcased on Hell’s Kitchen

Posted by: admin | Comments (0)

Hell’s Kitchen, the FOX reality series that pits aspiring chefs against each other under the searing scrutiny of Chef Gordon Ramsay, showcases Whistler, British Columbia during a special two-hour episode on Tuesday, Sept. 22 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT).

Earlier this year, Hell’s Kitchen announced that the grand prize for this season is a Head Chef position at Araxi - providing the winner with the opportunity to work under Executive Chef James Walt as Whistler welcomes the world during the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

Chef Ramsay paid a secret visit to Whistler earlier this year to film a teaser featuring Araxi and the British Columbia mountain resort. In the Sept. 22 episode, Chef Ramsay shows the chefs how high the stakes are via a satellite tour of the award-winning restaurant and Whistler. On the same show, the chefs must use 15 local ingredients flown in from Whistler to create three entrees. Guest judges for the challenge include Olympians Sasha Cohen and Jonny Moseley.

Because she is just so insufferable!

And that, on some reality shows, is actually a good thing. Around halfway through this season of Hell’s Kitchen, Suzanne has managed to irk not just her teammates - including usually stoic Ariel - but virtually everyone watching Hell’s Kitchen. And as annoying as Tennille is, at least she vents out the frustration a lot of people had when it comes to her sworn enemy.

And tonight on Hell’s Kitchen, Suzanne was up for nomination again, along with funny man Andy, who was asked to leave Hell’s Kitchen. Suzanne wasn’t her usual uppity and almighty self on the dinner service, making several errors, including undercooking and overcooking the lamb and under-spicing the frog legs. In fact, so disgruntled Chef Ramsay was on the error-laden service, that he sent Suzanne, plus Andy and Sabrina out of Hell’s Kitchen, leaving Tennille and Ariel to complete the service.

Andy, who accidentally sliced off his fingertips while doing potatoes, was instead asked to go home, while Suzanne stayed. She was probably thanking her lucky stars that Hell’s Kitchen wasn’t a popularity contest like Survivor (sort of), because she wouldn’t last a minute if that was the case. As horrible as her showing is, don’t count on Chef Ramsay to eliminate her any time soon (unless she really bombs), because despite her faults, she’s very entertaining. Meanwhile, Ariel flies under the radar and will probably make it til the very end.

On the other side of the fence, all the guys are pretty entertaining and funny at this point of Hell’s Kitchen, so it’s a toss-up between Dave and Van who’ll make it to the finals.

On tonight’s episode of Hell’s Kitchen, the chefs are made to create - crepes! The winning team will enjoy an afternoon at a French restaurant, while the losing team has to endure losing one of their members after an injury during preparations for dinner service. For the dinner service, it’s French cuisine, and Hell’s Kitchen host Gordon Ramsay ends up kicking three chefs out of the kitchen when one disorganized one fails to keep up with the rest of the team. And as with any Hell’s Kitchen episode, this one ends with someone packing up his or her knives and saying goodbye.

On the last episode of Hell’s Kitchen, the contestants participated in a blind taste test to determine which of the chefs’ palates are the most, well, refined. They were paired off and blindfolded, and eventually, the red team won, identifying two more ingredients than the blue team. The red team had a dining in the dark experience with Ramsay at the V Lounge in Santa Monica, while the blue team stayed put to make sorbet for that night’s service.

As for that service, the blue team underwent major trouble when Andy ran out of mashed potatoes for the last few remaining orders. Also noteworthy was Dave still being able to cook up a new batch in short order despite one arm being in a cast. The girls didn’t have a smooth service, as well. At one point, Ramsay had Sabrina eat her lamb, which he argued was undercooked (no thanks to Suzanne, who had problems of her own because of her sea bass). Eventually, the blue team won, mainly thanks to Dave.

Tennille was voted best of worst for her team, and surprise, surprise, she picked Suzanne and Sabrina for elimination. Fortunately for the lovely pair, Ramsay had different things in mind, and had Amanda leave Hell’s Kitchen.

Catch Hell’s Kitchen tonight 8pm on Fox.

On tomorrow’s episode of Hell’s Kitchen, we saw one Hell’s Kitchen staple: the blind taste-test challenge. Still on the haunt for the Head Chef position at Araxi Restaurant in Whistler, Canada, host Gordon Ramsay wants to make sure all the candidates’ palates are up to par. The winner of the challenge will have a chance to dine with Chef Ramsay in the dark at an eatery where they can only rely only their senses of taste, smell, and touch. For the episode’s dinner service, meanwhile, one team runs out of potatoes while the other team serves raw meat - uh oh.

On the last episode of the Fox cooking show, Robert finally bid goodbye from Hell’s Kitchen. Fans were slightly divided with his elimination, some pointing out he was infinitely better last season, when he reached top 5. Some are even posing questions on whether or not it was right to bring him back in the first place (while mentioning that sweat dripping down his nose was indeed very unappetizing). You can’t really argue with that one.

Elsewhere on that episode, with Robert gone because he was rushed to the hospital last episode, the boys thought they might do a better job with the challenge - rolling a dice, choose an ingredient that starts with the letter they get, and cooking something incorporating all the ingredients. The boys won, with their haddock, figs, angel hair pasta, apples, and tomatoes. Come service time, there was a special chef’s table with executive chefs from Ramsay’s New York and Los Angeles restaurants. As with almost all episodes prior, Ramsay was mighty pissed, but this time with good reason - plastic in some of the dishes.
